37th Annual Christmas Prelude
Kick off your holidays with a visit to Village by the Sea and Kennebunkport’s 2018 Christmas Prelude. This charming seaside celebration of the holidays has grown to a ten-day event (November 29-December 9, 2018) with champagne galas and historic house tours showing off festive holiday decor. HGTV named Kennebunkport as the #2 Christmas town in America and with good reason.
You’ll find cookies and cider served in the boutiques and art galleries, horse-drawn carriage rides and Santa arriving by a lobster boat. There are many holiday fairs for you to stock up on Maine-made crafts and gifts for your shopping list. And don’t forget the caroling and tree lighting ceremony in the center of town.
32nd Annual Christmas by the Sea Celebration
Only five minutes to our south is the beautiful village of Ogunquit where the holidays are celebrated in style. Ogunquit has long been a community of art and Christmas by the Sea (December 7, 2018-December 9, 2018) is yet another display of the local artistry.
Named #3 Christmas Town in America by Travel and Leisure Magazine, Ogunquit hosts a fantastic list of holiday events. Friday night kicks off with carolers and a bell choir concert plus a cozy bonfire for revelers. Saturday’s festivities include hayrides, arts and craft fairs for eager holiday shoppers and Santa arriving at Perkins Cove. Shops, boutiques, and art galleries offer shoppers a warm reception and a chance to complete their holiday gift list. The Chowder Fest and Chocolate Fest allow local chefs to flaunt their delicious skills, while shoppers enjoy tasty treats.
The evening tree lighting, caroling, candlelight walk and live manger are all magical holiday events that capture the true meaning of Christmas.
33rd Annual Southern Maine Christmas Parade
The Southern Maine Christmas parade in Wells is the perfect culmination to your Christmas by the Sea and Prelude weekend as it passes right by our resort. The parade will take place on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 2 pm and is sponsored by the Wells Chamber of Commerce. The 2018 Parade theme is “This Is My Christmas.” The parade starts at the Wells Plaza on Route 1 and proceeds north to the Wells Junior High School.
